INITIAL
CONCEPTS
1
Hanging Objects
People need to hang a variety of objets, both for display purposees or for placing belongings out of the way.

2
Exploring Planters
I felt that working with plants and prototyping planters could give me more inspiration to explore and generate ideas.

3
Design Revolved Around Hanging Shelf
After presenting my ideation with Poppin they encouraged me to focus on a hanging shelf system that could work for both plants and other applications.

4
Bulky Plastic Form
I struggled with all of the plastic. I felt that breaking it up into sections was unsuccessful because it appeared too wonky and strayed away from the clean and solid forms Poppin heavily uses.

5
Wireframes
I considered wireframes to get away from the bulky plastic but I was struggling to find a way to make an attractive wireframe.

6
A Little Inspiration
I refined the design by observing the Poppin File Sorter. I decided to go back to looking closely at Poppin’s products to find something that I could reflect in the design in order to help it meld into the Poppin product line..

7
More Refined
I then began the long process of designing, editing, and adjusting to achieve the final design.

8
Refine the Rails
I played a lot with the size of the side rails. I wanted to achieve a balance between size and reduction of individual parts.

9
Tension &
Compression
I decided to create a system to hold the shelves in place at a fixed distance by having the inner rails pulling in, while the outer rails pulled out.
