Let the brainstorming begin.
Step 1
Initially, I had a bunch of ideas in three major problem
areas of the office. I jumped right into sketching
possible solutions in all three areas.
Ultimately, I chose to focus on auditory and visual
privacy because I felt a strong personal connection
to the need for eliminating distraction while working.
Just focus on focus!
Nope.
Nope.
Maybe?
The Goals
Create a temporary refuge from the visual and
auditory noise of a busy office
01
Deep Focus
02
Sound Isolation
03
Visual Noise Dampening
I went back to sketching and tried fleshing out stronger concepts, including wheelbase standing
floor panels, chair mounted cones, and multiple different variations of desktop dividers.
I was really curious about exploring the transition from private to public space.
Step 2
Panel sits anywhere on Poppin’s
Series-A desk and slides easily on
and off to provide privacy
Adopts the Poppin brand
teardrop shape
Allows for setup on the fly
Panels are hinged at 90 degrees and
can be easily moved around the office
to block off or define new spaces
Easily adapted to many
configurations
Could incorporate Poppin's
design language
through
color and rounded edges
Choose desired level of privacy by
pulling side panels towards you to
block out peripheral noise
Adjustability offers increased
functionality from Poppin's
other space dividers
Before choosing the best idea, I really needed to make a
physical prototype of each step to better understand how
the concept would function and feel in 3-dimensional space.
